A new 270,000 square foot facility is being built to include additional space for obstetrics, labour and delivery, special care nursery, paediatrics, complex continuing care, palliative care, genetics and the laboratory. The expansion will increase the hospital's capacity to 471 beds. These additional beds will create greater efficiency for patients in emergency who require admission and give patients better access to the care they need closer to home. The Credit Valley Hospital is one of nine sites in the Greater Toronto Area for the provision of specialized inpatient and ambulatory care for children, and one in only five community hospitals in Ontario with an Advanced Regional Level II Centre for maternal and newborn care.
